Basic interior lighting in the ordinary garage is sufficient for the general activities. This is usually provided by a set of fluorescent lights, placed centrally in a small garage. Further sets may need to be installed if there is a large floor area.
Their owners use many garages as workshops; in such circumstances, the activities carried on will dictate the lighting requirement.
Low level lighting around the walls will solve most workbench problems.
Central dropdown lighting may be need if activities are carried out in the centre of the garage. This can be of the pull-down variety, in canopy form similar to what is used over pool or snooker tables.
Many garages contain a mezzanine or loft office or storage area. This requires standard house light arrangements being put in place.
Exterior lights on a garage should be on photo-cell arrangement.
