Lighting in children’ bedrooms will vary according to age.
Younger children should have low wattage lighting throughout the room in order to prevent any damage to eyesight from harsh light exposure.
It is a good idea to have under-panel lighting in open cabinets and whilst the presence of a central ceiling light is practical it should be used sparingly as young eyes are easily strained by direct exposed light.
Soft, low watt bedside lamps with converse shades are also advised for very young children.
As kids grow older, their needs change. For homework purposes, a reading lamp is a good idea for strong localized light with harmful glare tiring their eyes.
